Training increases stress tolerance and prevents aging

It is well known that stress levels negatively affect both health and life expectancy in General. This is due to the fact that in cases of high mental stress, the level of stress hormones, such as Cortisol, increases significantly. Research of the influence of aerobic training on aging processes

The researchers divided the subjects into 2 groups. The first group was a control group (KG) and it did not undergo any changes in its daily schedule. The second group was experimental (EG) and performed physical aerobic exercises for 40 minutes 3-5 times a week. The study lasted 24 weeks, during which 80 % of the subjects in the experimental group had physical activity of at least 120 minutes per week.

Research result
Before and after 24 weeks, the researchers measured the length of telomeres in the DNA of the subjects ' blood cells.

Telomeres are the ends of DNA molecules. The theory of telomeres suggests that their length plays a key role in the processes of cell division. The shorter they are, the smaller the division processes, and the more susceptible the cell is to the aging process.

According to the results of the study, the length of telomeres in the experimental group increased (see the graph), while in the control group the length remained constant. In addition, a significant decrease in body mass index and subjectively perceived stress was observed in the EG. There was also an increase in cardiorespiratory condition (VO VO2).

Conclusion: physical exercise is an important means of increasing stress resistance and counteracting aging
Exercise lowers anxiety levels and improves health, immunity, and overall life expectancy. Do not stop training, which is caused by the current circumstances. This study suggests that even 3 workouts a week for 40 minutes can already provide a significant help in resisting stress!
